Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our tech team and play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the systems that power our platforms. You will work closely with product, operations, and other engineers to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-structured software.
This role is ideal for someone with at least 4 years of post-graduate work experience who can independently own technical work, contribute to architecture and implementation decisions, and help raise the overall quality of the engineering team.
This is a full time, on-site position based in Colombo 5.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & optimize scalable, high-performance backend systems for carrier billing and VAS platforms.
Integrate APIs with aggregators, telecom operators, payment gateways, and content providers.
Own technical implementation for medium to large-sized initiatives.
Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Collaborate with product, operations, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Conduct code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural planning.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across development, staging, and production environments.
Help improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Support integration with external partners, platforms, and APIs.
Contribute to development best practices, documentation, and internal knowledge sharing.
Mentor and train junior team members.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
At least 4 years of post-graduate work experience in software development.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles and web application development.
Experience building and maintaining backend systems and APIs.
Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modelling.
Good understanding of version control, testing, debugging, and deployment workflows.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical outcomes.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Nice to Have
Experience with Ruby on Rails.
Exposure to telecom, fintech, or digital services platforms.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
